About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

Drunk Climber Rescued After Fall

A drunk idiot got what was coming to him today when he fell 20 feet near the Cape Horn View Point in Washington. David Wright, of Washougal, tried to climb a cliff near the point, lost his footing and fell – injuring his shoulder.

Rescuers from seven agencies had to use a rope system to hoist the man back up the cliff face. Alcohol was likely a contributing factor in the incident.

Falling rocks during the rescue caused one of the rescuers to suffer an ankle injury

Too bad Mr. Wright didn’t have more injuries. He definitely deserves it.
