About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

Climber Injured in 20-foot Fall from Rattlesnake Point

A rock climber was rappelling in the Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area in Canada when his gear suddenly failed and he plummeted 20 feet onto some rocks below. Small cheese compared to some of the falls I’ve written about recently.

There is no word on his specific injuries, but none are believed to be serious. Rescue was called and the man was hoisted back up the cliff in a litter. More details to come if they surface.

This was the fourth accident on Rattlesnake Point this year.

Red the story here.
