About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

Man Hiking for Charity Dies on Trail

A man hiking a 24-mile route around the North York Moors (pictured above) in the UK was found dead in a ditch on the trail.

The retired man had already hiked the route in May, but he wanted to make the trek again on the way to the check presentation at a local pub in Boosbeck. When he didn’t show up to the check presentation, authorities were notified.

A hunter found the man’s body in a ditch with his Jack Russell terrier obediently standing beside him. The hunter told authorities and his friends at the pub of the find.

An autopsy is being performed. Updates when I get them.
