About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

Woman injured from Fall in McGillicuddy Reeks, Ireland

A 24-year-old woman suffered serious leg injuries in a fall near McGillicuddy Reeks in Ireland.

The woman was hiking alone when she fell a “considerable distance.” Because of the terrain near the accident scene, a helicopter was not able to airlift the woman off the mountain.

Rescuers are carrying her down on a litter. Search and rescue was alerted at 4:30 p.m. They are expected to be down the mountain at midnight.

I’ll update if more interesting information comes along.

Read the story here.
