About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

Hiker Dies after 20-Foot Fall in Zion NP, Utah

A 55-year-old hiker died after falling 20 feet in Zion National Park, Utah.

The man was hiking with friends and fell. His friends said he fell right on his head. The group was hiking on a canyon trail two miles west of the park’s less-trafficked east entrance.

Friends immediately began administering CPR. Park rangers also arrived shortly after the accident and were unable to revive the man.

Scary, we have friends spending the weekend hiking at the Park. After reading the article, though, I see the man was from Salt Lake City not here in Flagstaff. Still, how sad. We usually go up there Thanksgiving weekend ourselves.
