About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

Hiker Rescued after Fall into Cold River in Utah

A day hiker was rescued after she slipped and fell into a river on the Holbrook Canyon Trail in Davis County, Utah.

The woman was hiking with her sister when she simply slipped and slid down the canyon side and into a river. Authorities said the women were prepared with the proper clothing and a cell phone so they were able to call 911 and get help immediately.

Authorities were on the verge of calling a Life Flight chopper to rescue the down woman, but they were able to use a rope system to pull her out.

The woman was in stable condition and taken to a hospital for observation.
