Rescue teams are working to free a hiker who became stuck in a crevice while descending a mountain in the Du Toitskloof range in South Africa.
The man was hiking with two friends to the top of Slanghoek Peak and turned around when the weather turned sour. On the way down, the man slipped and his foot was caught in a rock crack. The men were unable to get his foot out and one of his friends descending the mountain to get help.
A chopper was launched and found the stranded hikers. A second chopper was launched to drop off rescuers above the area. The rescuers then descended to the man and are using special heavy equipment to chip the hiker’s foot away from the rock.
There have been no updates to the story yet. It is unclear if the rescue was successful or delayed. I’ll update when info comes available.

OUCH! Wouldn’t it make more sense to chip the rock away from his foot? ;-D
