A 30-year-old ski tourer fell to his death near Flachau (pictured above) in the Pongau near Salzburg. The man was skiing alone late Thursday afternoon when he fell about 100 meters over a cliff and died instantly.
He last called his parents on his cell phone at 3:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m. his father notified the police and a search was started.
The search was officially suspended at 2:30 a.m. because of dangerous, but the man’s body was found at 2:43 a.m. by volunteer searchers from the Flachau Bergrettung using the signal from the man’s cell phone.
