About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

Teen Snowboarder Rescued from Mt. Seymour, Vancouver

An 18-year-old snowboarder was rescued after becoming separated from his group and being exposed to harsh weather while riding Mount Seymour near Vancouver, Canada.

The teen was riding and became separated in thick fog around 4 p.m. When the other riders in the group lost him, they alerted authorities. North Shore Search and Rescue followed the boarder’s tracks that led them to an area called Suicide Gully. The snowboarder was located just before midnight.

He was escorted off the mountain and transported to a hospital to be treated for exposure. It is unclear if the boarder had hypothermia, frostbite or any other injuries.
