About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

Hiker Missing in Nepal

Who: Julian Alexander Wynne, a 33-year-old from the UK
Where: Cho Las pass, the trail to Evereset
His mistake: Looks like he was hiking alone. Too many scenarios could’ve played out on this one
What happened: A hiker traveling through Nepal told his family that he would be on the Cho La pass trail and wouldn’t be in contact for a few weeks. After three weeks, the family reported him overdue. Sherpas, hikers and others were alerted of his disappearance and were told to keep an eye out on the trail.

Guides, porters and others on the trail haven’t seen the man. During the time the hiker started his trek, the trail was covered in ice and some think he may have slipped and fallen. He may also be lost.

Authorities are still looking for the man.
