Who: 23-year-old Brendan Shoemaker
Where: Mountain High Ski Resort in Southern California
His mistake: He hit a gnar 40-foot bank and couldn’t get back up
What happened: A snowboarder and a friend were snowboarding out of bounds near the Mountain High resort when one of the snowboarders decided to hit a 40-foot bank. The man dropped down the bank and was unable to get back up.
His friend immediately called for help. A dozen rescuers and two helicopters worked throughout the night, but couldn’t locate him. At 7 a.m. the next morning, a helicopter found the man. Apparently the man had a lighter and was able to start a fire overnight. I wonder if he had any leftover weed too.
Authorities said they were unsure if they were going to cite the snowboarder. Not quite sure why they don’t know. If this guy was riding out of bounds, he should’ve been more prepared. He definitely should be cited.
