Who: Two campers, 22 and 33 years old
Where: Gross Reservoir, Colorado
Their mistake: They had a scheduled pick-up and didn’t show up because the snow was too much fun.
What happened: A couple of campers asked a friend to pick them up after a snow camping trip. When they didn’t show, the friend immediately notified authorities that their friends were overdue. A search began and two hours later, the two campers were found. They said they were enjoying the snow and were going to stay at their campsite for a little bit longer.
The men had sufficient equipment including tent, sleeping bags, clothing and food. I’m not quite sure what these guys thought would happen if they didn’t show up for their ride. What kind of friend would say, “Oh, my friends aren’t here after camping, they must be enjoying the snow and staying another day out there in the backcountry.”
I definitely don’t have friends who would think that.

Me either.
Here in the UK two brothers from my home town lost their lives in Wales during some bad weather here in the UK.
There seem to have been quite a few incidents recently. A real shame.
