About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

Hiker Lost on San Jacinto

Who: A male hiker. No other details available right now.
Where: Below the tram on Mt. San Jacinto, just outside of Palm Springs, CA
His mistake: Don’t know right now.
What happened: A hiker called for help around 5 p.m. after he got lost in the snow near the tramway above Palm Springs. As the call was being made, the call was dropped for unknown reasons.

Because of an approaching storm, Riverside Mountain Rescue immediately began searching for the hiker. By Monday morning, the hiker has still not been found. Updates as they come in.
