Who: A male hiker. No other details available right now.
Where: Below the tram on Mt. San Jacinto, just outside of Palm Springs, CA
His mistake: Don’t know right now.
What happened: A hiker called for help around 5 p.m. after he got lost in the snow near the tramway above Palm Springs. As the call was being made, the call was dropped for unknown reasons.
Because of an approaching storm, Riverside Mountain Rescue immediately began searching for the hiker. By Monday morning, the hiker has still not been found. Updates as they come in.

I was one of the Riverside Mountain Rescue Members who found the subject at 11:00pm Sunday night. Very cold and wet at the 7,000 foot level below the Skyline Trail in very steep and soft snow. We post holed up over our kness at times. We gave both hikers warm snow pants and jackets plus food and water. We hiked them back up to the Tramway ariving at 3:00am Monday morning. See RMRU.ORG for complete story soon. Pete Carlson RMRU member.
