About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

Lost Backcountry Snowboarder Found

Who: A 26-year-old solo snowboarder
Where: Garibaldi Provincial Park, near Whistler, Canada
His mistake: Still unknown, but we know he’s alright
What happened: A snowboarder missing since Sunday was found safe yesterday by search teams.

The snowboarder went on a solo 2-day trip and was going to build an igloo to stay warm during the camping trip. His friend called authorities when the snowboarder didn’t return on Sunday.

Rescuers spotted tracks and began to follow them. But Tuesday, a chopper located the missing snowboarder. He is in good condition, but was transported to a local hospital. It is unclear if the man is suffering from any injuries.

Details of the story are thin. I will update them as information surfaces.

Read the story here.
