
Who: A 54-year-old skier
Where: Austria’s Brobglockner, a 3,798-meter peak
His mistake: Unknown.
What happened: A skier and a few of his buddies went skiing. The skier suddenly fell 150 meters from a wall 3,400 meters up the mountain.
It is unknown if the skier was slashing down or if he was skinning up. The skier narrowly missed two sharp rocks (possibly snow sharks) on the way down. Authorities said that if the skier hit one of the snow sharks, he would’ve been killed instantly.
The skier’s friends gave him first aid and called for help. Authorities arrived and plucked the man off the mountain with a helicopter. It is unknown if the skier suffered any injuries.
