About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

5 Injured by Lightning

Who: 5 car campers
Where: Montagne-d’Argent campground, north of Mont Tremblant, Canada
Their mistake: Maybe they could’ve ducked for cover, but who knows
What happened: A lightning storm was passing over a car campground when two bolts of lightning struck 5 campers – 2 employees and 3 campers. The two employees were in a booth speaking to a camper. The two other injured campers were at their site when the lightning struck.

Only one of the victims was seriously injured and was rushed to a local hospital. The others were slightly injured, and only some of them were transported for treatment.
