This will be the last Hiker Hell post until the first or second week of September.
My friend and I are leaving today to hike the John Muir Trail for the next few weeks. For those unfamiliar with the trail, it is a 200+ mile hike between Yosemite Valley and Mt. Whitney. We plan on being on the trail for about three weeks depending on our fitness. To say our Internet and phone access is limited is pretty gracious. We will only have two days when we can plug in.
I know there are a lot of Hiker Hell followers out there. If you would like a quick e-mail when I return and begin posting, please e-mail me at brianquines@gmail.com. I will e-mail you and let you know when I get back into the swing of things and begin posting again.
Sorry for the temporary outage of service, but at least I’m not doing the PCT or the AT, right?
Be safe out there, and don’t end up on Hiker Hell. (I hope I don’t end up on here either). Thanks for all of your support.
PS: When I return, I will be preparing for a move from Orange County to Lake Tahoe in Northern California, where I plan on joining a mountain rescue service and enjoying some world-class skiing and great mountaineering this winter. Hopefully I will have some first-hand accounts of rescues and offer more tips to stay safe on the trails.

Sorry. I was supposed to put up this post on Wednesday. I have already hiked from Yosemite to Mammoth. We took a rest day and will be back on the trail today. 170 miles to go. We plan to be back Sept. 8 or 9.
awesome, enjoy!
Hi there — longtime reader, leaving on the JMT tomorrow. I probably won't run into you, but good luck!
Wow, man – enjoy! You're one lucky dude to be taking the time, and enjoying the fitness – to hike that stretch of trail, and then be moving to Tahoe!
