His mistake: He was hiking at night by himself
What happened: A man who was hiking with a group was planning to sleep in a mountain hut. The group was able to make it to the mountain hut, but for some reason the man and another hiker decided to hike to another mountain hut nearby. They made it to that hut even in the cover of darkness.
Later that night, the man decided to hike back to the hut where he started. When nobody was able to find him the next morning, the called for help. Rescuers arrived and found the man’s body below a 60-meter cliff.
Authorities said the man left the hut around 9 p.m. and he veered off the main trail because of the darkness. He then hiked down into a steep area that is impassable by foot. He somehow fell of the cliff.
