We were at the top of silver groudo. it was only another mile up and around then down to the river. My two kids were strong enough to make it that fare without water and plus we drank our urine mixed with gaderade.The first 2 miles is nothing but swicth backs. My uncle almost fell off and thats when we lost 2 gallons of water, but you drop almost 2000 ft in that first 2miles. We took 2 dogs left 1 on the swicth back but she made her way down that morning we got rescued. His older bother found him dead and we all blame ourselves and we know we shouldn't but it happed like that fro the first week, now its time for should've, would've, could've. I can say he did enjoy the metor show that night. You can be ready and prepared but anything can happen it dosen't matter. We still can't sleep but we all realized that we all take water for granted and we need to servive and that is what keeps this plant alive and yes I will tell my store and so will my husband and my kids. We are not going to let this stop us from hiking and YES we are going to hike that same place again and meet BEAR CLAU ( his forest name ) down there at the beach. The hike is not over for us. the last time that trail was hiked was over 50 yrs ago. It was suposed to be the orignal site for the bridge at Marble Canyon (Navajo Bridge).He was a good guy no quarals with nobody he almost reached enlightenment and now he has.
