About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

3 Hikers Fall From Cliff

Photobucket
Who: 21-year-old Matt Fuller, a 20-year-old woman and 21-year-old Andrew Robertson
Where: Beacon Falls, Naugatuck State Forest, Connecticut
Their mistake: Looks like they got lost.
What happened: Three young adults were hiking through the forest and somehow became lost. As the sun started setting, all three took a fall from a cliff. Two of the hikers fell at least 50 feet to the bottom. A third hiker was able to grab a tree. While clinging to the tree, the man was able to call for help. He held on for an hour.

Rescuers arrived and found the three hikers. All sustained some level of injury and were transported to a local hospital. There are no other details on the story.
