
Who: An elderly couple in their 60s
Where: Mt. Beerwah, Sunshine Coast, Australia
Their mistake: It was just bad luck
What happened: A couple were climbing Mt. Beerwah when a rock dislodged above them and struck both of them. The man suffered minor injuries including lacerations to his shoulder and leg. The woman had abrasions and bruising to her shoulder and leg. They became stranded halfway up a very steep cliff and felt unsafe to go up or down.
They called 911 for help and rescue crews sent a chopper to rescue them. They were winched into the chopper and transported to a local hospital. Authorities said the two were very experienced hiker, they stayed on trail, but were victims of some bad luck.
