About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

6-Year-Old Dies in Mountain Fall

Photobucket
Who: A 6-year-old boy
Where: Alpbach, Tyrol
His mistake: He wandered off
What happened: A six-year-old boy and his 5-year-old friend were playing near a food stand that was close to a steep, rocky area. Both of the boys fell over a side down the mountain. The five-year-old grabbed a tree branch and was able to hold on until a chopper swung by to pluck him to safety. Unfortunately, the six-year-old wasn’t able to save himself and fell to his death. It is unclear where exactly the event took place.
