About

Over four years ago, I read “Touching the Void” and I was always intrigued by situation hikers find themselves in and the incredible things they do to stay alive.

This blog is about learning from other people’s mistakes, so you don’t make the same ones.

“Better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat”

Lost Hikers Rescued from Sacajawea Peak

Photobucket
Who: Two male hikers
Where: Sacajawea Peak, Montana
Their mistake: Bad luck. Maybe they should’ve looked at the weather forecast
What happened: Two hikers hiked to the top of Sacajawea Peak, but bad weather rolled in during their descent. They became lost and disoriented and unable to find the trailhead. The men used their cell phones to call for help and the Gallatin County Search and Rescue team responded.

In the meantime, the lost hikers were able to start a fire and stay warm until rescue found them. The hikers were found roughly 5 ½ hours after the call for help was placed. The men were in good condition when they were found and they were brought back to the car at 12:30 a.m.
